Moroccanoil Series Post 1

Editors Note: Moroccanoil was very kind in sending me samples of their products.

I have decided to post this as a series. There are several things that I have to try and I have not gotten through all of them yet.

It is generally a rare moment when I fall in love with a product, especially a hair product. Don’t get me wrong; I was ready to fall in love with anything hair related from Carol’s Daughters and was sorely disappointed.

When I read the information on Moroccanoil I was really impressed by them. You see, every single one of the products has Argan Oil in them. It’s really rare tree oil found only in certain parts of the world, mainly Morocco. Moroccanoil harvests their Argan Oil under a free trade program. It helps women and children in Morocco by improving working conditions, setting up schools and things like that. So by purchasing the product right off the bat you are helping your fellow man.

Shampoo and Conditioner

The first two products that I have tried were the Moisture Repair Shampoo and Moisture Repair Conditioner. They worked amazing with my hair. Usually after I shampoo and condition, I have to have some sort of leave-in conditioner in my hair right off the bat to be able to put a comb through my hair. Not so here. As soon as I got out of the shower I was able to gently comb through my curls. That is heaven in my world. My hair felt soft and manageable even before any other product went into my hair. LOVED IT. That was very exciting for me. Now both of these products say they are for chemically damaged hair. I think that if you are working with dual textures in your hair (you still have relaxed hair because you have not transitioned all the way into a full natural style, but have stopped getting relaxers) this would be a great go to shampoo and conditioner for you.

Intense Curl Cream

After I stopped marveling at how great my hair felt, I decided to apply the Intense Curl Cream to my hair. It is considered a leave-in conditioner. I applied one pump of the curl cream. It is thick and a little goes a long way. It wasn’t heavy but it left my hair feeling soft. There are no heavy perfumes either to compete with my perfume or my deodorant. I liked that. It absorbs quickly as well. I had my husband touch my hair and he was excited by the fact that it wasn’t greasy. When I first got my relaxed and damaged hair cut off my beautician told me that I would need a heavy leave-in conditioner. What she was saying was that I would need something that is non water based. I think I have found one that I completely LOVE in this Intense Curl Cream.

Glimmer Shine Spray

We all want our hair to have that healthy glow about it. A couple of sprays of the Glimmer Shine Spray and I had just that. It’s not a hair spray and it is not alcohol based. It is just a finishing spray that gives your hair a little bit of extra shine.

Another big thing that I want to share with you guys about these products that I have tried thus far. When I wake up in the morning, my hair is still soft! It’s not all crispy and dried out. My hair still feels moisturized without feeling greasy. So far I love Moroccanoil’s products. I have a couple more to review and then after I get done reviewing I plan on having a contest to give away a product from them. Stay tuned!

Dairy Queen-The end of the Saga

A few entries back I chronicaled my issues with Dairy Queen. Today I am ready to lay down my pen (fingers?) of justice.

The particular owner of that Dairy Queen wrote me, what I feel, is a heartfelt letter with an apology. It explained everything. She was gracious and kind about it all. I feel like today in a technical age people tend to lose sight of the fact that their customers make their world go around. I feel like the woman that wrote me the letter has not lost site of that at all.

I wanted to thank her for listening to my problem, doing her research and doing something about it.

I’m a bit of a lamer.

I am new to the whole natural hair scene. there are some things I don't know and I am not scared to admit that. When I go to different blogs and things They use abbreviations and things like that, and don't have a page to explain them. I promise you that when I figure those things out, I will have a separate link and page for those things. This is my promise to you. I get frustrated not knowing what something means. I think that might be the geek in me. I need to know ALL. I crave knowledge more than my hair craves moisture.

To Wrap or not to Wrap, that is the question.

With relaxed hair there is a specific rule you must follow no matter what. You must wrap your hair at night. Most people know what I am talking about. You know somewhere you have that satin scarf that you delicately wrap around your head at night. I was no different.

This practice I have carried over into the natural world. It might just be me, but I feel as if my hair feels better in the morning when it has been wrapped over night. It feels like I am maintaining some moisture in it. I have asked my beautician if she wraps her hair (she has gone natural and was the one to encourage me to go natural as well) she said she does not, but her sister does. I guess the choice is up to you. So do you wrap?

Why I will not be going to Dairy Queen EVER AGAIN.

Okay, so today's entry is obviously not about hair. This is another lesson on how you do not treat a customer.

My hubs and I were watching a movie last night. Before we started the second one, I had a hankering for a Strawberry and Golden Oreo Blizzard from Dairy Queen last night.

We drive to DQ and get in the drive through line to place our order. My husband orders his chocolate concoction of a blizzard first. He is in the middle of ordering mine when he is cut off by a loud aggrivated voice from the drive through speaker box. "Chocolate xtreme blizzard large...that all?" Jeff and I giggle, because obviously he was in the middle of ordering something else. "Uh no...can I also get a large strawberry and golden oreo blizzard with extra golden oreos and a chicken basket?" she repeats our order to us LEAVING OUT MY PRECIOUS EXTRA GOLDEN OREOS. Jeff repeats extra Oreos one more time before we drive up to the window.

I hope no one is surprised at this point that my beloved blizzard does not have extra Oreos in it. She then tells us to pull around the side to a black door where our chicken basket will be delivered. We then drive around to a BLUE door and wait.

While we are waiting a random girl gets out of an SUV. She doesn't have on shoes, she has on socks. She knocks on the blue door and someone lets her in. A minute later she is yanking crates and thing out of the door. Helping the employee with the trash.

I look my husband dead in the eye and say "If that girl with no shoes on, in a tank top and booty shorts delivers my chicken basket to me, I am never coming back to DQ.

Do I even need to say what happened? I do? Okay.

The girl with no shoes on, in a tank top and booty shorts delivers my chicken basket to me. WHO IS THIS WOMAN!?

I am irritated, annoyed, and bothered by DQ. I will not be going back. Baskin Robbins may not have Golden Oreo Blizzards, but I have never seen anyone without a uniform behind the counter!

Trying a new product…as soon as it gets here.

I am not going to lie to you. I am picky and finicky. I have a standard I expect to be reached with customer service. Before I got my degree I worked in customer service for years (Old Navy anyone?).  When a company disappoints me starting from the gate, it makes me wonder what the product is going to be like.

Let me back up.

I was on facebook, and one of the businesses I friended on there is StrawberriCurls . She is a naturalista and my beautician hipped me to her. I noticed the other day she was doing a contest. The winner got some sort of product. I wanted to check out the  product so I went to the website.

Texture Playground

For those of you that do not know, I have an Associates Degree in Computer Information Technology. I am currently in school for my Bachelors. I looked at her sales page, and it kind of hurt my heart and my head. Some people are not tech savvy though, so I wasn't going to hold that against them. I boldly went forth and read the descriptions of everything.

I decided that I was going to purchase the Curls Nurture Cream and Hydrating Hair Butter. Lord knows I need some hydration. I noticed that the Hydrating Hair Butter was currently out of stock. Not a huge deal, I will go ahead and add it to my cart, and I am sure they will send me a notice saying when it will be in and so forth and so on.

I placed my order. I did not receive a confirmation in my e-mail, I didn't really get anything. I ordered everything on 06/14/10. I noticed that Texture Playground had put up a blog on the same day saying that they would have larger sizes of what I ordered in stock starting tomorrow (06/15/10). So I assumed that maybe what I ordered would be back in stock, since it is the SAME EXACT THING, ONLY LARGER!!

You know what they say about assuming right?

So no confirmation, no contact from the website at all. I keep checking my bank account and my Paypal to see if the money has been withdrawn. FINALLY on 06/19/10...5 DAYS AFTER I PLACED MY ORDER Paypal shows a tracking number for the USPS for me.

I am a little nervous to receive this product. If it is as half assed as how they run their site, lord help my hair. Review on the actual product to come when have received it and am able to use it.

Dry as dry can be.

My hair is dry.

Let that sink in for a bit. I am not just talking about mildly dry. I think it feels like a dry forest. One match near my head and FLOOM!  Forest fire.
I don't know why it keeps drying out like this. I am using a moisturising conditioner and shampoo. I used olive oil on my hair last night, hoping to seal in some type of moisture. Any ideas anyone?

Feeling Wild

I do not know what is going on with my hair this week. It seems like I cannot put enough moisture into it. (Authors note: This is not me above…I wish I had that much hair) How is the weather in everyone's area? Tonight it is all rainy and dreary and I think it is affecting the hubs and I. He is aggravating me to no end. My grandmother's 70th birthday bash was this past weekend, where I met a surprising guest in my cousin's wife. Why is this surprising you say? She is a naturalista too! We sat and discussed products and things like that.
Anyway, just didn't want anyone thinking that I wasn't alive or kicking. I am here, and I should have a new product review in the next couple of weeks. I just ordered a new product from a different website.

Have a great night!

Carol’s Daughter Product Review

So the product that I am reviewing is not a hair product. However, I did review a Carol's Daughter hair product over on Beauty and the Bitch . You should check that out as well. Today on my blog, I am reviewing their Almond Cookie Shea Souffle.
First off after getting this product, I took a big whiff… and fell into a sea of soft loving almond-y goodness. Oh wow this stuff smells good! I have really dry skin so I was praying to the Flying Spaghetti Monster (google it..You're welcome) that it worked well.
My prayers were answered.
Instantly my skin felt soft and smooth and luxurious. It is a small jar but a little goes a long way. I slather some on after I've had a bath and I feel all soft and touchable. My husband agrees with me too. If you read my blog over there on Beauty and the Bitch, You will see I wasn't the biggest fan of their leave in conditioner. But their Souffle? Sign me up! It's totally worth the money. I am just jealous of all the people that live near a CD!
